When to book our MCU?

You just need to book our Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) if more than two participants want to communicate.

Multipoint Videoconference

A conference with more than two participants is called a multipoint videoconference. In this case you have to book our service.

Our Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) provides virtual meeting rooms for three or more participants. Every participant needs to dial the number of the SWITCHpoint MCU in order to join such a virtual room.

After booking you will receive a confirmation of your reservation and all the details you need in order to make the dial-in. Don't forget to send the dial-in information in advance to the other participants you would like to invite.

Direct Calls

If only two participants want to communicate, we call this a point-to-point or direct call. In this case you don't need to book the MCU.

In order to set up a direct call dial the number of your dialogue partner just as you would do on a normal phone. You don't need to use our MCU at all, since the call is directly routed to the target device.
