Concepts

SWITCHcast annotate! comes with two types of annotations:

  • Text annotations, where the user can insert arbitrary length texts
  • Structured annotations, where the user can insert pre-defined labels and optionally scale values

All kind of annotations have a start time and an optional end time.

Annotations live on tracks. A track is a logical group of annotations that all belong to the same user and all have the same visibility. For each video clip, an user has a default track and can add an arbitrary number of tracks.

Visibilty and Permissions

Tracks can be either private which means that they are only visible to the creator of the track, or public. The latter are visible for any user that has access to the video clip.

Independent of their visibility, tracks and its annotations can only be edited or deleted by their authors. An user can, however, comment any annotations that he can see.
