Even though the AAI federation continues to provide the basis for the service SWITCH edu-ID some important things change as the architecture with a central identity provider, processes, duties of organisations or the role of the user.
At the same time, the legal frameworks in Switzerland and Europe are in a state of flux.

This leads to an increased need for information on the part of the organisation regarding legal issues about the service. In particular, university data protection and security officers must be able to find out which questions concerning SWITCH edu-ID are relevant and how these questions are to be assessed on the basis of current and future legislation.
